Charity Pet Walk and Fair for SPCA of Westchester

On Saturday, May 1, 2010, animal lovers can gather at FDR State Park in Yorktown Heights from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to raise money for the SPCA. The day begins with a 2-mile charity dog walk, followed by live music with 100.7 WHUD, fabulous food and refreshments, games and crafts for kids, and a vendor village for shopping. In recognition of the many shelter cats who are waiting for new homes, supporters can also walk with an adoptable cat vest. Pre-registration is not required but is greatly appreciated, and walkers can register online and collect pledges if they like. Those who don’t own a pet or whose pets don’t do well in crowds are also invited to come out and help to raise awareness and funds. The SPCA hopes to raise $100,000 this year for a new animal shelter. Organizers report that more than 3,000 animal lovers and pets joined the event last year.

The walk registration fee is $20; $35 for families of two or more; kids under 12 enter and walk free. For more information, visit spca914.org, email lisa@spca914.org or call 914.941.2896.
