On Tuesday December 21, Liberation Yoga in Mahopac, will honor the graduates of its very first 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program. The program, approved by the Yoga Alliance, was born when several Liberation students desired to deepen their practice and share their love of yoga with others.

The intensive course focuses on teaching yoga in the vinyasa style, with emphasis on the philosophy presented in the yoga sutras. The training also covers pranayama and meditation techniques, anatomy, and introductions to ayurveda and prenatal and kid’s yoga. Upon graduation, the new teachers can register with the Yoga Alliance and confidently present themselves as certified yoga teachers.

Liberation Yoga plans to offer the program again in 2011, with dates to be announced. Those interested in joining the next teacher training program can contact the studio or email

Liberation Yoga and Wellness Center is located at 900 S. Lake Blvd. in Mahopac, NY. For more information about classes, workshops and upcoming teacher trainings, call 845.803.8389 or visit
