IMS Celebrates Expansion with Detox Special

Dr. Fred Lisanti

Dr. Fred Lisanti, Founding Director and Attending Doctor at Integrative Med Solutions (IMS) is proud to announce the expansion of office facilities and treatment rooms in Eastchester.  “It’s really a testament to the commitment our patients have shown to their health and well-being,” says Dr. Lisanti. “Our expansion speaks to the greater acceptance of eastern and holistic medicine in the mainstream.” IMS, which specializes in acupuncture and naturopathic medicine, has been serving the greater Westchester community for more than five years.

To celebrate the expansion, IMS is offering clients a 50% discount on their signature Spring Detoxification. Dr. Lisanti will guide clients through the process of eliminating foods that commonly increase inflammation in the body, while simultaneously assisting the body to metabolize and release stored toxins.

“When we push our bodies to meet the needs of our busy lifestyles, our natural detoxification systems become compromised.” Dr. Lisanti explains. “This results in food intolerances, fatigue, frequent infections, digestive problems, joint and muscle pain, decreased mental acuity, or simply not feeling yourself.”

The three-week Spring Detoxification program at IMS can determine food intolerances and jumpstart better health, weight loss, increased longevity and decreased risk for cancer and heart disease.

Integrative Med Solutions and Dr. Fred Lisanti are located at 281 White Plains Rd., Eastchester, NY.  To schedule an appointment or inquire about services, please call 914.337.2980, visit IntMedSolutions.com, or email info@intmedsolutions.com.  Most health insurances are welcomed for acupuncture treatments.

Veterinarian Brings Chinese Herbal Medicine to Bedford Hills Practice

Dr. Leilani Alvarez and friend

Katonah Bedford Veterinary Center (KBVC) of Bedford Hills, NY is pleased to announce that one of its lead veterinarians, Dr. Leilani Alvarez, will become a Certified Veterinary Chinese Herbalist in May. Dr. Alvarez, an experienced veterinary acupuncturist and canine rehabilitation therapist, has spent the past two years training at the College of Integrative Veterinary Therapies. Her accomplishment is rare in the field, as most veterinarians practicing herbal medicine are not certified.

“I’m thrilled to be earning this certification,” Dr. Alvarez reports. “It’s an example of how we’re always seeking to offer patients a diverse range of therapies and treatments at KBVC.” Dr. Alvarez also practices western veterinary medicine.

Other new services at KBVC include DNA testing for Degenerative Myelopathy, a debilitating disease in dogs that causes severe progressive neurologic disorders such as ataxia, paresis and paralysis. KBVC has also acquired a low-level therapeutic laser for treating osteoarthritis, soft-tissue injuries, and Intervertebral Disk Disease. Additionally, KBVC technician Lori Lombardi has became a Reiki Level 2 Healer and now offers this service to patients at no additional cost.

Summer Camp in Mt. Kisco Registering Now

Little chef at the Mount Kisco Child Care Center’s Summer Camp Program

To kids, the best part of summer is no school and no homework. But the summer campers at Mount Kisco Child Care Center (MKCCC) aren’t just playing—they’re learning, too, says Dawn Meyerski, the Center’s program director.

“The learning never ends here,” Meyerski says of the not-for-profit center, which for 40 years has provided high-quality child care with an emphasis on enhancing each child’s self-esteem and celebrating community diversity. “Our children spend the summer engaged in farming, gardening and cooking activities, and they create a working farmer’s market to sell produce grown on site. They are also involved in creative arts programs and weekly field trips and/or special events.” The campers get plenty of exercise, too, participating in activities like martial arts, Zumba, and daily trips to the town pool. Special programs include farming/nutrition, an Intergenerational Program, music and swimming.

MKCCC is registering now for its full day camp program, which begins at the end of June and runs through the end of August, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Mount Kisco Child Care Center is located at 95 Radio Circle, Mount Kisco, NY. For more information, call 914.241.2135 or visit MKCCC.org.

Organic Mattress Store Opens in Mount Kisco, NY

Healthy Choice Organic Mattresses is opening a new location in Mount Kisco on April 1. The store will be conveniently located on East Main Street next to Dunkin Donuts and Mrs. Greens.

While today’s mattress marketplace offers many choices, most are made with a mix of petroleum-based products, including polyurethane foam and polyester fibers. These mattresses outgas toxic chemicals into the body, and eventually break down, at which point they are thrown into landfills where they slowly degrade.  Healthy Choice Organic Mattresses provide a truly healthy alternative by combining ingredients like certified organic wool and cotton and all natural latex. The result is a simple yet extremely comfortable and supportive mattress.

Because Healthy Choice mattresses are made with pure ingredients, they will last many times longer than the chemical-based alternatives. They’re also made locally in Bethany, CT using no imported products. The new Mount Kisco store will display all mattress models, as well as the Adjustable Sleep System option.

Visit the newest Healthy Choice Organic Mattresses store at 681 East Main Street in Mount Kisco, NY and preview the products at healthychoicemattress.com. How to Create a Healthy Home & NYC Book Signing April 11, 2011

In their newly released book, The Healthy Home: Simple Truths to Protect Your Family from Hidden Household Dangers, co-authors Dave Wentz and his microbiologist father, Dr. Myron Wentz, uncover the health hazards lurking in the average home and offer simple, effective ways to create a healthier place to live.

Studies by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency indicate that indoor air is often two to five times more polluted than outdoor air. “Every second of every day, we face an onslaught of unnecessary dangers—toxic chemicals, negative energies and unforeseen side effects,” advises Dave Wentz. Culprits include chemicals in carpets, paints and common cleaning products, as well as radiation from Wi-Fi, cell phones and other electronic gadgets.

The Healthy Home walks readers room-by-room through a typical house, pointing out hazards—many of them surprising and counterintuitive—and offering easy-to-implement fixes. The book blends science with practical tools and explanations in layman’s terms. Each chapter begins with a quiz that enables readers to assess their current lifestyle; the more points they accrue, the more toxic their home is. Every chapter concludes with a series of simple solutions, including point values that make improvements easy to achieve and measure.

Join authors Dr. Myron Wentz and Dave Wentz on April 11, 2011 at Lincoln Center’s, Alice Tully Hall, 1941 Broadway, NYC. Book Signing 6:00-7:00 p.m. and Performance 7:30-9:00 p.m.

The Healthy Home is available at bookstores and online; for information visit MyHealthyHome.com.
