The Women’s Small Business Advisory Board

The Women’s Small Business Advisory Board invites everyone to come to the Winery in Mohegan Lake on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, between 5 and 9 p.m. to enjoy a glass of wine, hor D’oeuvres, music and prizes while helping to raise money for Support Connection. Based in Yorktown, Support Connection offers free, confidential breast and ovarian cancer support services, including one-on-one peer counseling, support groups, wellness programs and educational forums.

“We hope many people will join us at the beautiful Winery at St. George for a fun-filled night of festivities and wonderful raffle items,” says co-organizer Chereese Jervis-Hill of Events To Remember. Jervis-Hill and six other area business owners make up The Women’s Small Business Advisory Board, including Dana Boulanger, co-publisher of Natural Awakenings, Susan Lasky of Susan Lasky Organizing & Productivity Solutions; Ann LaGoy of Sound Earth; Dr. Marianne Messina of Women’s Center for Holistic Healing; Jann Mirchandani of Marketing Café and Linda Rey of The Rey Insurance Agency, Inc. The group has hosted this fundraiser to benefit Support Connection’s services and programs for three years.

“Support Connection was my go-to resource, my emotional support and safe haven when I was diagnosed with breast cancer more than a decade ago,” says Boulanger. There is a requested donation of  $10 at the door, which buys a ticket for the 50/50 raffle. To donate to Support Connection, visit

Sassy Ladies Shopping Night Out in Tarrytown on April 1

Chereese Jervis-Hill

Ask Chereese Jervis-Hill, president of Events to Remember (ETR), what she does for a living, and you’ll get a simple answer: “We create memories.” While organizing an event can be anything but simple, the result is gratifying, she says. “We love turning a special event into an amazing memory that lasts a lifetime. So this year we’re creating a special memory for ourselves, with our inaugural ‘Sassy Ladies Shopping Night Out.’” The event will take place April 1 from 6 to 10 p.m. at The DoubleTree Hotel, 455 South Broadway, Tarrytown, New York.

ETR added a beauty/fashion twist to the sort of event it has organized for clients, “and this is how ‘Sassy Ladies’ was born,” Jervis-Hill says. “This expo event has beauty, fashion, and of course wellness components, as these are all really important to me, as well as to many other women.” ETR will donate a portion of the proceeds to two Westchester County not-for-profits serving the needs of women, she says. In addition to shopping for unique products and services, the evening will include a deejay, food samples, free giveaways, fashion and wellness tips, and an eco-friendly goody bag. Tickets are $10. To order, visit and click on “Blog.”

ETR plans social and corporate events (including “green” meetings), as well as its specialty, expo events. Its largest expo event is The Yorktown Festival & Street Fair, with 225 vendors and a total daily attendance of 15,000.
