Organic Mattress Store Opens in Mount Kisco, NY

Healthy Choice Organic Mattresses is opening a new location in Mount Kisco on April 1. The store will be conveniently located on East Main Street next to Dunkin Donuts and Mrs. Greens.

While today’s mattress marketplace offers many choices, most are made with a mix of petroleum-based products, including polyurethane foam and polyester fibers. These mattresses outgas toxic chemicals into the body, and eventually break down, at which point they are thrown into landfills where they slowly degrade.  Healthy Choice Organic Mattresses provide a truly healthy alternative by combining ingredients like certified organic wool and cotton and all natural latex. The result is a simple yet extremely comfortable and supportive mattress.

Because Healthy Choice mattresses are made with pure ingredients, they will last many times longer than the chemical-based alternatives. They’re also made locally in Bethany, CT using no imported products. The new Mount Kisco store will display all mattress models, as well as the Adjustable Sleep System option.

Visit the newest Healthy Choice Organic Mattresses store at 681 East Main Street in Mount Kisco, NY and preview the products at healthychoicemattress.com. Call 914.241.2467 for more information.  Coupon in ad on page 3 of April 2011 edition of Westchester’s Natural Awakenings Magazine available at: www.WakeUpNaturally.com

Dietician and nutritionist Renee Simon and psychologist Dr. Stacy Raymond, PhD, will lead a four-week workshop in Katonah, NY, and Ridgefield, CT, exploring addictive behaviors and other self-destructive patterns.

The program, based on Geneen Roth’s Women Food and God: An Unexpected Path to Almost Everything, uses food as a metaphor for any self-defeating habits, says Simon. Attendees don’t have to have an eating disorder to benefit, and the theme does not denote any specific religious affiliation or belief. “The program will be a transformative experience to redefine one’s relationship with food, learn to love self and body more fully, and open more deeply to the soul’s true essence,” she says. The workshop explains why “quick fixes,” which don’t resolve deeper issues, can’t permanently solve problems.

Simon is board certified, with 11 years’ experience helping women reach and maintain their ideal body weight through fully integrated health and lifestyle programs. Raymond, a licensed clinical psychologist for 15 years, specializes in eating issues and problem resolution and addresses the link between spirituality and self-esteem. Both women help their clients identify and resolve the toxic beliefs and emotions that often underlie health concerns.

The workshop will run on consecutive Tuesdays from January 11 to February 1, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at 15 Parkway, Katonah; and on consecutive Wednesdays from January 12 to February 2, noon-1:30 p.m., at 38B Grove St., Ridgefield. The program costs $125, or $99 through December 31. Space is limited. Croatian Healer, Braco, in New Milford CT October 26-27, 2010

Two-Day “Gazing Event” Comes to Connecticut

Braco

For the last eight years, people across Europe have sought relief from hardship and health issues through the silent gaze of a Croatian man known simply as Braco (pronounced braht-so). More than 200,000 people annually visit Braco at “gazing events”; now he is making his first East Coast tour, appearing nearby at Candlelight Farms in New Milford, Connecticut October 26-27.

“Braco has the unique ability to become a conduit for an energy that positively affects those in his audience,” says Frank Weller, president of Equine Angels Rescue Sanctuary, who is producing the local event. “Braco’s group gazing sessions last five to eight minutes, with impressive results that defy scientific explanation and conventional understanding. His gaze empowers people in their lives.” That power is documented in books, conferences, more than 80 films, and thousands of personal testimonials, Weller says.

Participants must be at least 18 years old, and pregnant women past their first trimester are advised not to attend due to the potency of the energy, Weller says. “It is recommended to bring a photo of children or those who cannot attend, as healing and transformation can occur equally well through this method,” he adds.

Candlelight Farms is located at 214 Candlewood Mountain Rd., New Milford, CT. Outdoor gazing sessions are scheduled hourly, from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m., both days. Tickets cost $8 per session and are available at the door or online at braco.net. For more information, visit braco.net or contact Frank Weller via his website, foalrescue.com.

A New Look at Birth Order

Melanie Barnum

Austrian psychologist Alfred Adler theorized that birth order plays a significant role in determining personality because people learn to behave or react to situations from a very young age. Melanie Barnum, Certified Hypnotist, Hypno Coach and Intuitive, has created a new program to help people change or overcome personality traits that no longer suit them. “More Than Your Birth Order!” combines hypnosis, coaching, intuitive reading and behavior analysis in its approach. Melanie says that identifying characteristics common to one’s birth order can help to fulfill needs and desires in positive ways.

According to Melanie, “This new program can be used to formulate or enhance constructive relationships and family interactions, as well as improve career aptitude, workplace relationships, and more.” Learning how to become more than one’s birth order reduces stress and improves overall health, says Melanie, creating a more confident, empowered and relaxed person.
