Natural, Effective Allergy and Sinus Relief with a Funny Name

Hyun Kim

When herbalist Hyun Kim created Rhino Blaster it wasn’t called Rhino Blaster. It was simply known as “Hyun’s own personal nasal spray to relieve her allergy symptoms without the side effects of traditional medications.” When Hyun discovered how many other people were helped by her formulation, she decided to sell it and find a shorter name. Her friend dubbed it Rhino Blaster, and the name stuck.

Now, those suffering from allergies, stuffy sinuses or the uncomfortable dryness of winter air, indoor heating and airplane climates can purchase Rhino Blaster online, at some local pharmacies and at the birthplace of Rhino Blaster, Za Oh Pyung Acupuncture. Hyun says she wants to hear back from customers who use the product, too – especially if they want to buy another bottle.

Za Oh Pyung Acupuncture is located at 6 Depot Place in Scarsdale, NY. For more information and to purchase the product, visit rhinoblaster.com.

Pilates & Massage Therapy Combo Available at Conscious Body in Briarcliff Manor, NY

Ellen Ronis McCallum

At Conscious Body in Briarcliff Manor, owners Tim and Ellen Ronis McCallum are pleased to add Massage Therapy to the services they offer in their fully equipped Pilates studio.

The combination of a great Pilates session and a deep, therapeutic, and relaxing massage yields great rewards, says Ellen, a licensed Massage Therapist with 25 years of experience. Massage helps to determine very specifically where a person is holding tension, while Pilates sessions help to correct a person’s particular imbalances and body habits. Pilates addresses the body from the inside out by stretching, lengthening and strengthening muscles, and massage helps from the outside in by passively kneading and massaging muscle and connective tissue.  Massage Therapy can also aid in the recovery of overworked muscles.

Anyone can book a massage at Conscious Body, whether or not they do Pilates. Ellen blends Deep Tissue, Swedish, Trigger Point Therapy, Passive Stretching, Craniosacral Therapy, Energy Balancing and Chi Nei Tsang (organ chi abdominal massage) in sessions that are tailored to a client’s needs. From now through the end of the year, clients who mention Natural Awakenings will receive 1 hour of Massage Therapy with Ellen for just $80 (normally $110).

For more information or to schedule an appointment, call Conscious Body at 914.923.0474, Ellen at 347.731.8404, visit consciousbodyonline.com or email Ellen@consciousbodyonline.com.

Getting Katonah “In Balance” with Tai Chi

David Cunniff of In Balance Tai Chi

Tai Chi is growing in popularity every day, and the In Balance Tai Chi Studio in Katonah is celebrating two years of spreading the healthy word. Those looking for a way to control daily stress and get in shape without strenuous exercise should consider the ancient Chinese arts of Tai Chi and Chi Kung, which combine controlled breathing with gentle stretching movements. Tai Chi reduces stress, alleviates ailments and injuries, and creates a calming environment while promoting balance and healing.

At In Balance, small personal classes and a comfortable atmosphere create a positive approach to exercising and learning, and newcomers can attend one Tuesday 7:30 p.m. beginners’ class for free.

To register for a free beginner’s class or receive information on class schedules, contact Sifu David Cunniff at 914.262.1478 or inbalanceconcepts@comcast.net, or visit inbalanceconcepts.com. In Balance Tai Chi Studio is located at 190 Goldens Bridge Court, Suite 6A in Katonah, NY.

EMF Protection Becomes Business Opportunity

texting teen

Pamela Cucinell has a passion for living life well. Her friend, Bill Fritz, believes that eating well, drinking “good” water and taking supplements are keys to a long and healthy life. So the two have teamed up to spread the word about GIA Wellness, whose patented products are designed for “living with less stress.”

With “Inspired Energy” products like its electromagnetic field (EMF) guards, GIA Wellness fills a need in the wireless industry, Cucinell says. “These products help you thrive in a stressful, wireless world,” she says. “You can put the guards directly on cell phones, PDAs and Bluetooth devices to mitigate the effects of EMF exposure. They don’t block radio waves—you need those so the phone works—but they provide a bio-friendly field, diminishing stress.” The i-H2O system, another GIA Wellness product, is the only patented technology proven to supply optimal hydration, using an “activation process” that produces three times liquid than “inactivated” water, Cucinell says. “This means your skin and organs gain moisture, with anti-aging benefits,” she says.

Cucinell and Fritz are looking for people interested in joining their team. “We’re offering simple, effective and viable methods for starting your own GIA Wellness business,” Cucinell says.

Statements made about the above GIA Wellness products have not been evaluated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. For more information about GIA Wellness, contact Pamela Cucinell at 917.796.6026 or visit GIAWellness.com/pamario; or contact Bill Fritz at 914.772.2595 or visit WFritz.InspiredWellness411.com.

Workshops Deconstruct Self-Destructive Patterns in Katonah, NY

Renee Simon & Dr. Stacy Raymond, PhD

Dietician and nutritionist Renee Simon and psychologist Dr. Stacy Raymond, PhD, will lead a four-week workshop in Katonah, NY, and Ridgefield, CT, exploring addictive behaviors and other self-destructive patterns.

The program, based on Geneen Roth’s Women Food and God: An Unexpected Path to Almost Everything, uses food as a metaphor for any self-defeating habits, says Simon. Attendees don’t have to have an eating disorder to benefit, and the theme does not denote any specific religious affiliation or belief. “The program will be a transformative experience to redefine one’s relationship with food, learn to love self and body more fully, and open more deeply to the soul’s true essence,” she says. The workshop explains why “quick fixes,” which don’t resolve deeper issues, can’t permanently solve problems.

Simon is board certified, with 11 years’ experience helping women reach and maintain their ideal body weight through fully integrated health and lifestyle programs. Raymond, a licensed clinical psychologist for 15 years, specializes in eating issues and problem resolution and addresses the link between spirituality and self-esteem. Both women help their clients identify and resolve the toxic beliefs and emotions that often underlie health concerns.

The workshop will run on consecutive Tuesdays from January 11 to February 1, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at 15 Parkway, Katonah; and on consecutive Wednesdays from January 12 to February 2, noon-1:30 p.m., at 38B Grove St., Ridgefield. The program costs $125, or $99 through December 31. Space is limited. To register or for more information, call Renee Simon at 914.763.9107 or visit TotalWellnessNutrition.com or CTCenterForChange.com.

Jamie DiMauro

In his newly renovated space in Mount Kisco, Village Acupuncture & Health owner Jamie DiMauro now has plenty of room to attend to his growing client base, attracted by the restorative benefits of acupuncture, massage therapy and personal training.
